Message to Local Churches

Updated: Mar 19

Believing preparedness to be Biblical, how do we prepare the Body to be salt and light in times of crisis (disasters and emergencies)?

In times of crisis/disasters, the public always turns to the Church for help and answers – physical, emotional and spiritual.  To ensure our ability as a Body to respond to the needs of a hurting community, we have to be prepared ourselves.  We cannot minister out of our need, but only from our overflow.

PREP Ministries believes that it is the responsibility of each local church to prepare their congregations to be ready to respond to their communities’ needs in times of disaster.   It is primarily the local churches’ responsibility to ensure the emotional and spiritual preparedness of their flocks.  It is the mission of PREP Ministries to support the local church in their mission by providing a solid program to help the Body with the physical and mental preparations.

Many churches have (or have looked into) disaster response missions for their congregations.  However, not many have helped their congregants to be prepared themselves so that they are available to help in response – and not caught up in the panic and chaos of the immediate event.  PREP Ministries is not a ‘response training’ organization (there are a number of good organizations that do that) but instead exists to help ensure that each Believer are themselves prepared, and thereby available to respond to the needs of others.

Appropriately prepared, the Church could – and should be – available and ready to assist a hurting and needy world in times of crisis.
